Summit 2012 Spotlight On: Joel Villanueva

People may address him as “secretary” but for KKB-CYN members, he would always be “chairman”.

Sec. Joel Villanueva started young in honing his leadership skills as Chairman of KKB Movement.

He got elected into public office at age 25 when he became the youngest lawmaker in the Philippines as first representative of the Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) party list.

During his term, he ardently fought for 12 nationally significant legislation. One of them was the Republic Act 9189, or the Overseas Absentee Voting Act, which gives Filipinos overseas the chance to vote in national elections. He is also the principal author of Republic Act 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act, which aims to eradicate red tape in the bureaucracy.

Today, he is the Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the government agency mandated to empower “the Filipino workforce through direction, policies, programs and standards towards quality technical education and skills development.”

Known for his business acumen and leadership expertise, Francis Kong is considered as one of the most influential public speakers in the country. He is a founding member and currently the director of Inspire Leadership Consultancy, Inc. He has also been the president of Francis Kong-Inspiring Excellence since 2005. A motivational speaker, consultant, and trainer, Kong has become an icon in various business conventions and conferences, both locally and internationally.

He is heard on the daily radio program “Business Matters” on 98.7 DZFE-FM. He also writes his weekend column at the Business section of the Philippine Star, and has been a regular guest at the morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda”.

Kong is a recipient of several distinctive awards, such as the 2006 Gold Quill Philippines Award of merit for Public Speech Category, the 2008 Dr. Jose Rizal award for excellence in the Field of Journalism, and the Anvil Award for Excellence for executing Dr. John Maxwell Leadership Seminar Series.

Kong is also widely read author of Christian books. He has published 10, including “Only the Real Matters”, “One Day At A Time”, and “The Early Bird Catches Worm.”

Francis and his wife Lilia are blessed with children Bryan, Hannah, and Rachel.

Rev. Joey Crisostomo is currently the Director for the Bro. Eddie School of Ministries International (BESMI) of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide. He is also a part of JIL’s Executive Management Board. He pastors JIL Greenhills, which has three services at present.

He started becoming a servant-leader of JIL in 1981 through the help of his mentor, Bro. Eddie Villanueva. For 31 years, he has been an ambassador of God’s love and forgiveness to the lost world through the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Aside from his noteworthy servanthood and leadership, he is also known as the worshipping pastor because of his preaching messages that are remarkably punctuated with powerful, ministerial songs. His messages notably emphasize worship as a lifestyle—an occupation of the heart.

Pastor Joey loves playing musical instruments such as the guitar and the piano. Among his popular compositions is “Pusong Dalisay”—the Filipino version of “A Pure Heart”.

He is married to Pastor Ellen of JIL Hagonoy. They are blessed with four children, and have just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this month.

Known for his humorous but straightforward approach on the realities of life, Pastor Ed Lapiz has become one of the most sought-after preachers in the Philippines.

Pastor Ed is the founder of Day by Day Christian Ministries, a Bible-based Christian church with services in the Philippines and in various parts of the world. But aside from being an esteemed church leader, he is also a very multi-faceted individual. He is an author of more than 30 books, devotionals, and Bible study guides. He has also recorded more than 1,900 audio and video preaching messages. He is a well-known broadcaster with his regular radio show airing in 702 DZAS and more than 17 other national and regional radio stations in the Philippines.

Aside from being into mass media, Pastor Ed is also an advocate of various non-media pursuits. The development of Christian nationalism, the indigenization of Christian church liturgy, the redemption of the arts for use in Christian worship and ministries, and the “decolonization” of Christianity are just some of the advocacies that this pastor supports.

Occasionally, he also teaches in the Institute of the Culture and Arts Management of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). He was also invited as a lecturer for Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), the Department of Tourism, the Command and General Staff College of the Philippine Army, and other educational, artistic and civic organizations.

More and more KKBs are now getting animatedly-thrilled for the upcoming Youth Summit 2012! Undeniably, they have waited long and hard for this event since last year. But due to inevitable circumstances, there will be some changes for KKB’s most-awaited gathering. Much to the Youth Summit team’s excitement to hold the event at MOA Arena, the construction of the new facility wouldn’t be fully-furnished by May. The management of SM Supermalls would like to extend their tender apologies for the inconvenience it may have caused.

Nonetheless, there’s no need to worry because The KKB Youth Summit 2012 is still definitely on! It will now be held on one of the biggest and best entertainment venues in the Philippines–wait for it– The Smart Araneta Coliseum! Summit dates will also be moved from May 24-25 to May 28-29. That means more time to plan ahead, save money and invite more friends!

Plus, keep posted because the NEW official Youth Summit poster for this year will be launched very soon. This will be different from the one that was posted earlier, so watch out for the upcoming posts on this page. Only one thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be even more extreeeeeeeme!!!
